  • Dried garlic: 1 teaspoon
  • Ground cardamom: ½ teaspoon
  • Ground ginger: 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder: 1 teaspoon
  • 800 g of chopped tomatoes and their juice
  • 1 cube of chicken stock
  • 125 g of plain yoghurt
  • Salt

Directions

Step 1:

Cut the chicken into cubes. Set aside.

Step 2:

Prepare the marinade by mixing in a bowl all the ingredients of the marinade (yogurt, garlic, cumin, ginger, cinnamon, chili, cardamom, coriander and lemon juice).

Mix this marinade with the chicken pieces.

Put the chicken pieces in a baking dish.

This is not essential, but if you have time… let the chicken covered by marinade in the fridge for 1 hour before baking.

Step 3:

Switch your oven to the grill position and place the chicken dish in the oven.

Grill the chicken: turn the chicken over during baking so that all sides of the chicken are golden brown. Total roasting time will be approximately 20 minutes, but this time may vary depending of your oven.

Step 4: Prepare the sauce while baking the chicken

Peel and slice the onion.

In a pan, mix oil, chopped onion, garlic (1 teaspoon), cardamom (1/2 teaspoon), ginger (1 teaspoon) and cumin (1 teaspoon). Fry this mixture slightly.

When the spices begin to grill, add the chopped tomatoes, their juice and the cube of chicken stock. Mix. Put a lid on the pan and cook on low heat (4/10) for 20 minutes.

Step 5:

At the end of baking the chicken: put the chicken pieces in the pan with the spicy tomato sauce. Mix.

Add the remaining yoghurt (125 g). Mix.

Adjust the seasoning if necessary: add salt or chili pepper powder.

Step 6:

Serve your Indian chicken with a portion of rice to make a complete and balanced dish.
