Large and melting pieces of apples and a vanilla flan: this is the gourmet duo of a delicious Alsatian-style apple pie.

Ingredients for 4 persons
- 1 home-made Shortcrust Pastry (link to my recipes: “classic” shortcrust pastry OR a lighter version “Yoghurt Shortcrust Pastry”) or 1 ready-to-use dough
- 4 to 6 apples
For the flan:
- 2 eggs
- 200 ml of semi-skimmed milk (low-fat)
- 50 g of fine sugar
- A few drops of vanilla extract
Directions
Preheat oven to 180 ° C / 375 ° F
Step 1:
Spread the shortcrust pastry into an about 25 cm diameter pie mould. Poke the dough with a fork.

Step 2:
Peel the apples. Cut in four and remove the seeds.
Make 4 cuts on the top of each piece of apples as pictured.
Place the quarters on the pie crust.
Step 3:
In a mixing bowl, mix the eggs with the sugar. Then add the milk and a few drops of vanilla. Mix and pour this mixture on the apples.
Step 4:
Put the pie in the hot oven (180 ° C / 375 ° F) and cook for 40 minutes. Your pie must be golden brown at the end of the cooking!
